Former Pitt running back Kevan Barlow, who was trying to become a third-down back with the Steelers, was among seven players cut today by Coach Mike Tomlin.

Also cut were punter Mike Barr, kicker Connor Hughes, wide receiver Dan Sheldon, running back Larry Croom, long-snapper Jared Retkofsky and center Donovan Raiola.

So sad to see you go....we hardly knew ya..

Cool. None that I'd consider surprising.

I'm sure Hughes, Barr, and Barlow are relieved to be cut early and have a chance, however small it may be, to catch on elsewhere.

We've still gotta three more by tomorrow I think.

Pre Fin's revised link, the other three were:

WR Eric Fowler
DE Derrick Jones
LB Richard Koonce

And these three guys had some PS possibility, IMO.  Not sure if we'll sign them to the PS if they're first wave cuts.  Jones had some nice speed but was injured; Fowler showed some early camp potential, but this might indicate that they're looking to stash Baker on the PS; Koonce was a high-energy type against the preseason slop and NFLE slop.

Barlow, good riddance.

Our PS needs a touchdown maker this year.
