No surprises at all, except perhaps Darnell Stapleton, who leapfrogged his R5 Rutgers teammate Cameron Stephenson to make the cut; this, after spending ~3 weeks out of camp injured.  But, he was a Rimington finalist as noted often.  Capizzi, I hope sticks with us.  I think he could develop rather nicely.  He's raw, and apparently too much so.  Young wore down yet again, so as August waned, so did Mr. August.  He'll always be a phone call away.  BSP, IMO, still hasn't made the team.  One decent waiver wire sighting and he could be turds swirling down the bowl.

Okobi was the real litmus test.  Cowher would have kept him, and that Tomlin didn't suggests a new way of thinking.  I like Chukky, really.  Funny guy, good enough backup, but coming to that wrong point in his career.

I think my prediction was pretty close, Capizzi excepted.  Nua looked doomed, as did McBean, Cam, and Dallas.  Dallas was a big zero, but a R7, so, meh.  McBean and Cam might stick on the PS.

Oh, it's a bad day for AJ when his pay league and Michigan both fold, and Willie MUTHUHFUCKIN Reid makes the cut.  I feel for ya brother, the way a dog feels for a fire hydrant.

Madison and Lorello might be decent taxi keepers, but I wouldn't mind if the FO did a little fishing.    IMO, Tomlin did well here.

I know Y2J likes Haynes, but he ripped that knee up pretty badly.  Showed well in the PS, but I have little confidence it would have lasted, and frankly, Gary Russell put the lead in my pencil.  Ecstatic that they kept the little retard.  He really could develop into a very nice COP back, and maybe somedayt be groomed as The Man.  Love having both Davis and Danny Kreider.  Davis will be fun to watch.

No surprises on the cuts  But....

Steelers Release 23 Players Following Trade With Atlanta;

   Additionally, the Steelers traded a 2008 conditional draft pick to the Atlanta Falcons for return specialist/cornerback Allen Rossum. Rossum (5-8, 178), a 10-year veteran from Notre Dame, was originally drafted in the third round (85th overall) of the 1998 by the Philadelphia Eagles. He then was traded to the Green Bay Packers and spent two seasons (2000-01) with the team before signing with the Falcons as an unrestricted free agent on March 13, 2002.

   Rossum, a 2005 Pro Bowl selection as a special teams returner, holds the Falcons record for career punt return yards (1,723), career kickoff return yards (5,489) and career punt returns for touchdowns (2).

   All NFL teams may sign up to eight players to their practice squad after noon on Sunday, Sept. 2.

I've always kind of liked Rossum. You had to know the Steelers were interested in bringing in another returner when the reports surfaced about them contacting Drummond after he was released.

Not sure what he's done recently.... but when I was down there Rossum was a burner and he was one of those guys that could be a "game changer" every time he touched the ball.

Anyone else puzzled we now have only one C?  Does the FO have eyes on someone else's cut?

Maybe Tomlin is planning on using Kendall Simmons as an emergency C in case Mahan would go down.  Stick Phillip on the practice squad.  Tomlin has been preaching versatility since he has been hired.
