Crhis Carter sadi he thought the Steelers woudl represent the AFC in the Superbowl.
The Steelers are finally starting to get some recognition from the natl media, already. As soon as they lose one though, everyone will have them losing the division.

That is the ESPN generation of sports.
They also can't seem to realize that the NFL is more like NCAA basketball that BCS football. One loss won't kill you--get to the playoffs and anyone has a shot.

Ridiculous. There's no way we'll be invited to a playoff game with our lack of marquee win.

And with the poor ratings Steelers games get when people turn the game off.

Wonder if Carter made that statement after watching the Freeney IR news and figured that there's only two other probable contenders for the AFCC. There's no reason for the Steelers not to be 10-2 going into the Pats game.
That said, I just hope nobody on the Steelers sideline takes Carter's fluff too seriously. The PS haven't been a good road team (yet), and Leon Washington is just as good as Cribbs on returns.

Well, I for one haven't given up on the dream yet. I think they will lose in Dec, but maybe return the favor of '04. If BR plays lights out and the OL can somehow keep it relatively together, they have a shot of winning. Unless something really crazy happens the AFCC will be in NE, so that will make it tough for any team, but the Steelers can play outside in the Cold, Rain and Snow as good as anyone.
A lot of it will be whether Pitt can grab the #2 seed from Indy's back pocket. Injuries VS a soft schedule will determine how the Dolts finish. It seems like, barring a collapse from either team, Pitt and Indy will be the 2 and 3 seeds but which order it is will determine whether the Steelers have to play on playoff week one against the Titans, Jags, or Clowns, then go to the Dome. Getting the bye and having Peyton come the Steeltown would go a long way to even getting to a rematch with the Pats. A 13-3 finish might do it, but 12-4 and its probably going to tiebreakers.
I will be happy with Tomlin's first year if they go 12-4, win the division, and win a home playoff game. Would of course like to see them do better but after last year, nobody really knew how BR was going to respond and how Tomlin would run the ship. They are a couple of solid OL guys away from really being on the Pats level IMO, but if they play their best game who knows what can happen.

Agree with you, SFIC, but I'm starting to feel the need for greed for that #2 seed. Indy is a far easier team to handle away from their dome.

I would have to say that Carter most likely is just going against the grain from Collinsworth's Man love for the Patriots and his prognostication of a 19-0 season...
