I believe that today is the anniversary of perhaps the greatest play in NFL history?

Two things come to mind watching that.

1. The play is similar in magnitude to the Patriots' snow game versus the Raiders where Brady's fumble is erased due to the arm coming forward.  Without that call, do the Pats win 3 Super Bowls?  Or is their fate irrevocably changed?  And here's the clincher.  Draw your parallels between the nascent Steelers and Patriots teams, but the pivotal play for the Steelers was performed by the players and reviewed by the officials; the Patriots were wholly the beneficiaries of official review.  In a sense, the pivot moment, whether wrongly or rightly decided, was handed to them, not earned.

2. How reminiscent of Terry Bradshaw is Ben?  And how reminiscent of Ben is Terry Bradshaw?  I sometimes forget how much like Ben Terry was: a big, big-armed, often mobile guy who could make incredible improvisations on the fly.  It's hard to compare the apples and oranges of different eras, but that play footage was, well, Roethlisberger-esque.

That is exactly what I was thinking when watching that clip.  How well Bradshaw evaded the defenders....very much like Ben.
