 the Steelers will play the Colts, Cowboys, Chargers, Giants and Texans at Heinz Field. They will play the Patriots, Jaguars, Eagles, Titans and Redskins on the road and the six division opponets.

Maybe this is payback for having one of the easiest schedules in the league this year?

That's a ridiculous schedule.  I mean, just about every single team on there is exciting, but holy shit- there is not a SINGLE doorstop on that list.  In fact, the Eagles are the only team there that are significantly under .500 this season.  All of the other ones could finish at least .500 if they win their final games.

Cleveland will have a similar schedule, though subbing Buffalo and Denver for NE and SD will make things a little easier for them.  A Steelers sweep eliminates that advantage.  As noted above, everyone on the schedule won't project into powerhouses in 2008, but I'd guess that the AFCN winner will go 9-7 next year (hopefully the PS), with most of the wins in the division.  The Steelers are going to have fix some of the holes that were exposed this year, however.

The good news is that a 9-7 Steelers team that has improved itself will be potentially far more dangerous in the playoffs than this year's 11-5 version (if they win on Sunday).  They'll probably have to win the division.

On an unrelated note, every PS team with LeBeau as DC (6 seasons) has made the playoffs except for last year, including both SB appearances.  The PS have 4 division titles, and the WC season (2005) included the SB win.  Heckuva run.

It's just luck of the draw. This season, the AFC South and NFC East are the two toughest divisions in the league. They're the same two divisions that we play in full next season, based on the year-to-year revolving schedule.

I totally concur with padg.  If we come through that 9-7, we could be a much better team than the 11-5 2007 team.  Facing a soft schedule does us no real favors, as we've found before.  We need to be battle-tested and ready for anything, assuming we can make the postseason.

The whole division basically plays the same schedule, save for a few games. So I don't see how it matters. Hold your own, dominate the divisional games again, start passing out the ugly ass division champ hats.

The Chargers and Patsies are the SOS games.  But the season isn't finished yet so how can they put out the SOS games?  WTF?

yeah, im sure all the divisional standings are not set in stone already.  Wash and Phi, Det/Chi, and Oak/KC are still battling for last place in their respective divisions.
