Roy Williams-WR- Lions Jan. 13 - 12:16 pm et

MLive.com's Tom Kowalski believes the Lions will dangle Roy Williams in trade talks leading up to April's NFL Draft.

Williams will enter a contract year in 2008 and Kowalski expects him to leave in 2009 if the Lions can't execute a trade. If Williams is dealt, Calvin Johnson would take over as Detroit's "No. 1" receiver. Williams, the No. 7 overall pick in 2004, should at least command a second-round pick as compensation.

So his price tag is a 2nd rounder... i doubt we look at him... but thats better than a rookie WR, especially if we could get him signed... we only would be on the hook for cap money 2 years, cause Hines will be gone in 09... anyone else like the idea?

Does he play center?  Guard?  DE?  No?  Forget it then.

Eh.. the only problem is some team will throw a 2nd and 3rd round pick at him...Idk how well hed fit in the Steelers style offense..

Has the physical tools and is very athletic.. I just dont think he is the type of WR that will replace Hines.... Hes a dome receiver..

I love Williams It would be great if we could get him, he would be the big WR we need.  Him along with a good draft could make us contenders again next year!
Draft
Rnd 1 OT
Rnd Williams
Rnd 3 C
Rnd 4 DE
Rnd 5 LB/S
Rnd 6 NA
Rnd 7 QB
I could live with this.

We aren't trading for Roy Williams, genius.

Am I on board? I guess I am.

But then again I have no PR/fashion rep guiding me through futuristic fantasy chatter and I guess I'll have to wait and see.

If they give up a Pro Bowl WR for a late 2nd rounder then F yeah I'm on board but the contract situation bears this undoable, junior.

Let us get serious and draft some lineman.

This is about the 4th time i have heard talks about Williams being traded... and its because they have SO much money in dead money, and other WR (mainly Calvin) So they have so many holes they think they can get by and get another WR... if we can get him for either a 2nd or a 3rd... you HAVE TO DO IT! Ward, Willams and Holmes... that attack is DEADLY! And the Draft could look like this the first 3 rounds!

1st - Jeff Otah or Chris Williams - OT
2nd - Roy Williams - WR - Trade
3rd - Mike Pollak - C - ASU

So you cant even begin to say that is bad. From talks the Steelers will have Marvel at LT and Simmons at RG... so we have 3 spots to fill... this fills 2 of them in draft. And we can move Colon to LG or use Kemo there... so where is your downfall??

You know, I don't think that would be a bad move at all.

1) WR will be a problem area very soon. Hines aging (missing more games every year), Ced gone soon, Nate inconsistent = Santonio double teams.
2) Its ashame to have a star QB and no one to throw the ball to.
3) We need to score more points to beat good AFC teams anymore.  Having a good D and hoping for a 7-3 win won't do it.

Unless the front office feels that Nate Washington will be the WR of the future. lol.

Then devote the rest of the draft to lineman after trading pick #2.

And, If Max is the only UFA we keep, we have the cap space.

Heres another idea:  Franchise Alan, then trade him to Detroit.

He misses too many games.  I'd give a 4th rounder for him though.
