Ex-Patriots Assistant Sends the N.F.L. Eight Tapes
By GREG BISHOP
Published: May 8, 2008
A former New England Patriots employee has sent the N.F.L. eight videotapes showing the team recorded play-calling signals by coaches of five opponents in six games between the 2000 and 2002 seasons, in violation of league rules.
But the group of tapes does not include video of the St. Louis Rams

Goddell better bang them hard. Belichick's now a proven liar in addition to his illegal clandestine espionage. Throw him out on his ass.
You can forget that happening. This'll be under the rug like otis' stash before the wife walks in.

Like the glue on Marv Albert's dome.
And you're right Commissioner Rog is probably more interested in co-starring with Belichick in their very own 'malibu production.
I'm just sayin' they're dispicable.

There'd be a chick in that scene, but only for appearance's sake. They'd still find a way to make their dicks touch.

They, meaning ESPN, are already saying that this is over. Walsh is giving up nothing new, and it is just going away.

What a candyass pansy Goodell is. We still should have won the game, but there is no way that the "status quo" should be maintained here. Belichump should be on suspension until Ron Mexico starts at QB for another NFL team.

I'm amazed that this story isn't a bigger deal. I'm amazed when I hear supposedly informed people (like, say, Michael Wilbon, whom I generally like well enough otherwise) say that "it doesn't matter if they knew the plays; you still have to go out and stop 'em."
Football is a coach's game these days, and more so the higher up you go. NFL teams are pretty even when it comes to talent; it's the play calls that determine to a high degree the outcome of a play. There are few vanilla plays in the NFL. Few plays that don't include some attempt at deception; a pump, a playaction, motion, a counter, a stunt, a fake blitz, whatever.
If the other team knows just about all your calls -- they may as well be playing with 12 or 13 guys on the field.
Ridiculous.

It appears this will end up a classic example of Goodell's M.O.: Hardass against players, candyass against management.

Another R1 pick forfeited, minimum. Won't happen, though.
Flukes.
