As for Joe Thomas, I guess he's pretty invaluable; after all, he's going to have to keep Beardy Quinn's candyass off the turf for the next 4 or so years.
I don't see how a 1-year left tackle could be judged as indispensible. I mean, the dude is good, but what he done? Almost helped his team almost make the playoffs?
Not that I want us to become dependent on one player, but the Steelers sans Big Ben would look pretty bad.
