On the optimistic side, if we can bolster the IOL, the sole weak point will be number of sacks given up by the RT.

Since it appears Marvel Smith is a lock, Simmons will basically be given a pass, and Colon is far ahead of Starks, the questions remaining are at LG and C.  The media is saying Kemo has LG, and if it's between him and Essex I think he'll win.  And even though Mahan has gotten more first team starts, I don't see how the fuck he can be better than Hartwig.  Or, more to the point, how Hartwig can be as bad as Mahan.

If the lineup is Smith, Kemo, Hartwig, Simmons, Colon, just the change at LG and C would increase the average weight of our line from 311.8# to 321.4# (going by listed roster weights).  If Starks does beat Colon somehow, that goes up to 325.8#.

Not that sheer weight is the be-all, but Kemo and Hartwig bring more mass to move in the middle.

So there's that.

Has there ever been a 7+ million dollar OL backup?

No, but there's about to be.

Can they cut Starks and save anything this year?  Or is it a total wash?

IIRC, tender offers are guaranteed.

On top of that, haven't we passed the date to work out an extension?

For franchise taggers, yes.  Nothing in the CBA to indicate a cutoff for trans taggers.

But I believe the cash moneys is guaranteed.  So either we work out a long-term deal with a guy who may not even be our starter, or bite the $7M for a backup.

Then I hope they get it done before Sept 7th...

If not, I got $20 on Max getting arrested after making it rain at Club Erotica this season...

Talk about a cush job.

Maybe Mahan gets a shot a LG. As mentioned, if Hartwig can't beat out Mahan at center, he officially sucks.

Starks will start some games this year. No way Marvel plays all 16 games. Its too bad that KS got extended because Max should be RG with Colon as the tackle. It just seems so odd to transistion him, not sign a long term deal, and then not start him. Why the fuck transistion him in the first place?
