As people have said, this is a tough call. But also one they don't have to make today. Let's see how Lefty handles things and how he plays for the rest of preseason, while keeping an eye on Batch's recovery. The upside about Charlie is he already knows the playbook, and works very well with BR. He knows his role and is happy with it. Even at 33, he doesn't have a lot of miles on him.

Lefty has that rocket arm, but he also has that huge, and long, windup. Not great for  QB that in all likely hood will be running for his life behind the Steeler OL. He isn't going to be able to avoid the rush that well either. Isn't famaliar with the playbook, and chances are that if the Steelers cut him after Batch gets healthy, he will still be available, because unless lots of QB's go down, no one will sign him.

Dixon has a better than good chance of getting picked on waivers if he goes there. Do they really want to do that? Would be a wasted 5 rounder, and the kid has some upside.

If Batch is back by October, you got to keep him and let Lefty go. If is recovery takes longer, then they might think aboout ending his season, but its just a collarbone. Lefty is a decent guy to be a backup, but Charlie should remain the guy for a year or 2 longer.

I really dont think Dixon will be any slash type player in the future that some may think he will be.
BLASPHEMER! :pimp:

It's a hot night. The mind races. You think about your knife; the only friend who hasn't betrayed you, the only friend who won't be dead by sun up. Sleep tight, mates, in your quilted Chambray nightshirts.
