I don't know much about the apparatus for kite-surfing, but the words "Let go!" come to mind.  

Or, maybe...

Don't grab a huge kite during a hurricane in the first place.

There's an emergency release on the harness, it looked to me that he decided to continue on that joy ride.

Eitherway, no sympathy from me.  It was his decision to kite surf during a tropical storm.  He got the adrenaline rush he wanted and a Darwin Award.

Where's the big spiked fence or speeding semi when you need 'em?  Hell, I would have accepted a boiling vat of roofing tar.

I believe his first choice puts us at the root of the problem.
