Penguins waive Taffe; 2 others sent to farm team
Beech put on unconditional waivers

Wednesday, October 08, 2008
By Dave Molinari, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

The Penguins have placed forward Jeff Taffe on waivers and assigned forward Janne Pesonen and goalie John Curry to their farm team in Wilkes-Barre.

Also, center Kris Beech, who previously was assigned to Wilkes-Barre, has been placed on unconditional waivers. If he continues to refuse to report and clears waivers, the Penguins can terminate his contract in two weeks. Beech is trying to find a team to play for in Europe.

Taffe will be eligible to join the Baby Penguins if he is not claimed by another team by noon Thursday.

Also, winger Paul Bissonnette has switched his sweater number from 67 to 16.

Beech, I can completely understand.  The guy has been worthless since 2001.  I have actually always liked Taffe as a fourth liner.  Unlike many on this team, he can actually win faceoffs.
