Week 8 Power RankingsEncomium of the Empty Elite Enclave<Candidates for Consideration for Crowning as Cream of the Crop

1. Tennessee Titans, 6-0 (1). <2. Pittsburgh Steelers, 5-1 (2). <3. NY Giants, 5-1 (3). <4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 5-2 (4). <5. Carolina Panthers, 5-2 (7). <
6. Philadelphia Eagles, 3-3 (5). <Pretenders, or Contenders?

7.  Buffalo Bills, 5-1 (6).<8. Baltimore Ravens, 3-3 (10).<9. Washington Redskins, 5-2 (Cool.

Washington won a grunt-fest over Cleveland, 14-11, and has already lost a game to the Rams.  They should handle the dreadful Lions, but you never know.  Does that win over the Cowboys look slightly tarnished now?  Still, the Redskins are playing well, and will pose a tough away match-up for the Steelers in a few weeks.

Alchemy:  Tennessee Titans, 55.4169 pts. (5-12).

10. Chicago Bears, 4-3 (16).<

11. Jacksonville Jaguars, 3-3 (11).<12. Arizona Cardinals, 4-2 (12).<
13. Green Bay Packers, 4-3 (17).<
14.  New England Patriots, 4-2 (22).  <

15. Minnesota Vikings, 3-4 (18).<16. San Diego Chargers, 3-4 (13). <17.   Atlanta Falcons, 4-2 (19). <

18. Indianapolis Colts, 3-3 (9).<19. Denver Broncos, 4-3 (15).

The Broncos are on a downward spiral.  Losing to a bad team like the Chiefs and being humiliated by New England show how terribly overrated the Broncos were.  Two weeks ago, they were 4-1 and the presumptive front-runners of the AFC West.  Now Mike Shanahan gets a bye week to figure out what the hell is going on, and how to fend off the Chargers (and even possibly the Raiders!) from overtaking them in the division.

Alchemy: Indianapolis Colts, -11.3092 pts. (19-26).

20.  Dallas Cowboys, 4-3 (14).<
21. NY Jets, 3-3 (21). <22. Houston Texans, 2-4 (25).<23. Oakland Raiders, 2-4 (27).  <24. St. Louis Rams, 2-4 (28).<25. Miami Dolphins, 2-4 (23).

Dolphins got grounded by a tough Ravens defense, but has beaten both the Chargers and the Patriots.  But what does that tell us, exactly?

Alchemy:  Houston Texans, -49.0068 pts. (27-29).

26. New Orleans Saints, 3-4 (20). <

Alchemy: Cleveland Browns, -67.3552 pts. (24-32).

27. Cleveland Browns, 2-4 (24). <28.  San Francisco 49ers, 2-5 (26).

Despite losing head coach Mike Nolan, I like the Niners this week.  Why?  Simple.  They play the Seahawks, who are just idiotically bad.  But really, the Niners are in the cellar again.

Alchemy:  Seattle Seahawks, -99.6506 pts. (20-29).

29. Kansas City Chiefs, 1-4 (30).<30. Cincinnati Bengals, 0-6 (31).<31. Seattle Seahawks, 1-5 (29).

Absurdly bad.

Alchemy:  Detroit Lions, -119.7089 pts. (29-32).

32. Detroit Lions, 0-6 (32).

Not even worth these six words.

Alchemy:  Kansas City Chiefs, -180.2158 pts. (22-32).
