Fleury injured; status uncertain for next Penguins' game
Monday, November 17, 2008
By Dave Molinari, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury did not practice today because of an undisclosed injury.

His status for the Penguins' game against Minnesota tomorrow night at Mellon Arena has not been determined.

Fleury is believed to have been injured during the third period of the Penguins 5-2 victory against Buffalo Saturday.

We've got a more than capable back up in Dany Sabourin. I say let him rest, we don't need this to be a reoccurring thing.

This will be an interesting test. Minnesota has got a pretty good team this year, and are sitting in the driver seat of that division. Can't wait.

And this is why Therrien gives Fleury a night off every once in a while.  You never know when Fleury will go down with an injury, which is starting to seem like once a year.....

Goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury will miss a second consecutive game tonight at Atlanta, and coach Michel Therrien sounded less optimistic of Fleury's potential weekend return. Speaking Wednesday after a Penguins' practice at Mellon Arena, Therrien said he "(didn't) know yet" if Fleury would be available to play at home Saturday against Vancouver. Therrien said Tuesday that Fleury could return against the Canucks. Officially, Fleury remains day-to-day with an undisclosed injury, which is thought to be of the lower-body variety.

Goaltender Dany Sabourin will start in place of Fleury tonight. Sabourin, who is 3-1-1 with a .945 save percentage this season, will make his 34th career start - 26th on the road, where he is 12-14-1 with a 2.68 goals-against average.

Penguins goalie Fleury out until next week
Thursday, November 20, 2008
By Dave Molinari, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

ATLANTA -- Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury apparently will be sidelined until at least next week by an undisclosed injury.

Coach Michel Therrien said this afternoon that he "will be surprised" if Fleury, who did not accompany the Penguins here for their game against the Thrashers tonight, is able to play when they face Vancouver Saturday afternoon at Mellon Arena.

Fleury was hurt during the third period of the Penguins' 5-2 victory against Buffalo last Saturday at Mellon Arena. Although team officials have declined to discuss the nature of Fleury's injury, he appeared to hurt his leg while making a save.

Dany Sabourin will be in goal against Atlanta, his second consecutive start. He is being backed up by John Curry, who was recalled from the Penguins' farm team in Wilkes-Barre earlier this week.

After facing the Canucks Saturday, the Penguins will be off until they visit the New York Islanders Wednesday.

He was injured in the vicinity of above and/or below the neck.

It was a lower/upper body injury.

Penguins No. 1 goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury has skated briefly on his own this week but still has soreness related to an undisclosed lower-body injury and will miss his third game in a row today.

Defenseman Philippe Boucher did not skate or practice and remains day to day with an undisclosed injury. ... Goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury, recovering from an apparent leg injury, skated before practice. ... Defenseman Ryan Whitney, recovering from offseason foot surgery, is taking a short leave from the team to travel to have custom skates fitted.
