Maybe the Golden Boy isn't so golden? That's a lot of dough tied up in QB's, but if Brady's rehab reports are accurate he may not be ready next September. That would be great.

I hope they drop the $14M to tag Derek Anderson... err, I mean, Matty Cassell.  Fuck the cap!

$14 million for Cassell? HAH!

If ever a team deserved to have shit blow up in their face.

Beginning of the end? I sure hope so. Make it so those asses never won anything without taping people. Tarnish the "legacy".

Maybe they trade Beardy then. You cannot possibly have that much money tied up in two QBs.

14M, thats insane.  what GM in their right mind would trade draft picks for Matt cassell and his $14M price tag?

Im guessin the Patriots are hoping that someone makes an offer disregarding the actual competition that the patriots were up against this year.

The cheatriots faced one decent defense all year and it was at home none the less.  Matty's ratng for the game...mid 30s with 2 picks.

Doesn't Ben count for 28 million for us this year? I totally ignore cap numbers but I swear someone told me that he had some insane figure like that for 2008?

Nah, don't think so.

I haven't been keeping up with salaries and cap numbers as much as I'd like, but I believe that 28 million number that was published is just what it cost Pittsburgh this year to sign him.  Essentially, the 28 million is his full signing bonus plus his '08 base.  For salary cap purposes though, I believe that his bonuses are prorated out amongst the remaining years.
