I tried to contain my chuckle.  Didn't happen.

Local guy would measure up my pool, order a cover and fit it, for $1400.

Took my own measurements but was growing weary of dealing with the pool dealerships. One guy mentioned the manufacturer during our phone conversation, so I dialed them up and started dealing directly with them. They can't sell direct, but I could send them my drawings which they promptly used to lay out a cover that would fit my current anchor placement.

Then I had to use one of their dealers to make the purchase, even though the dealer would be doing nothing more than taking my billing info. First guy comes back with an $1100 quote. The other company says $820 shipped for the same cover.  :rolleyes:

And the greedy-ass mofo gets NOTHING.
