That was my thought exactly. Make-up calls suck, unlike make-up sex.
Mmmmm...makeup sex...bad thing is, the wife and I rarely argue, and so we don't get to...
Wait, this thread was about football, wasn't it? Sorry, got distracted!

With these types of calls, you're gonna win some and you're gonna lose some.
Bottom line: Holmes needs to worry about holding onto the damn ball in that situation. Leave no doubt. There are a lot of close calls in the NFL, and some of them will go against you unjustly. But play so you leave no doubt.
Btw, that was a friggin' catch. Dude took about 4 steps with the ball. What's he got to do, pull out a sharpie and sign the damn ball?

Yes, and even with our short-yardage shortcomings, I'll take 1st and goal at the one over incomplete any day. Secure the catch before you worry about trying to score--and forward that memo to Limus Sweed.

At the time I thought it was a TD but saw another angle and thought it hit the ground before crossing the plane. Never thought the catch was in question. It was obviously a catch, a HUGE blown call by the refs. He made the catch, secured it and stepped forward, was tackled and the ball came out when he hit the ground. Play over, 1st and goal.
It's mind-boggling that the ref could see it any other way.

They seem so hung up on the 'going to the ground with ball' thing that they weren't really paying attention to how long he had control.
If it just would have broke the plane, it would have been a TD whether it comes out or not.
Left some points out there.
God bless FWP, but the guy my be a worse receiver than Bus.

There were several points in this game where my heart just started pounding. The terrible reversal of that call was one of them. Some others:
-The punt return to our 17 (and as much as I can't stand Berger, give him credit for the solid take-down)
-The Limus Sweed drop
-Failure to spike the ball and kick a FG
-Empty Set on 3rd and 1
-The Berger Shank
All of those just conjured up images from the past of Tony Martin, ODonnell-to-Foster, Kordell throwing picks in the EZ, Troy Brown, blocked FGs, Rodney Harrison, phantom holding call on Aaron Smith...
I really started feeling like we were headed for another crushing home loss. And then along comes Troy!

That's almost as bad as the reversal of Troy's INT vs. Indy in the '05 playoffs.
I couldn't see exactly where he came down, but he was hit by the defender, so when his elbow hit the ground he was down. The "control all the way down" rule doesn't really apply here since he obviously demonstrated control with 2 feet down. Sorry, but you can't stretch the ball out in your hand like that if you don't have control of the ball.

Wasn't that an 80s sitcom?

I still can't believe he dropped that. Had some open space, he could have gone a long way with it.
In Willie's defense, it would be nice if he had more practice catching passes out of the backfield throughout the season, and that's on BA. It's probably kinda weird for him to see a football coming to him any other way then a direct handoff from Ben.
