Steelers parade set for noon tomorrowMonday, February 02, 2009

It's official -- Steelers fans will welcome home the victors of Super Bowl XLIII at noon tomorrow with a parade in Downtown Pittsburgh.
The parade will start at the end of the East Busway, near the corner of Grant Street and Liberty Avenue, according to Kevin Evanto, a spokesman for Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato. It will then head down Grant and turn right on the Boulevard of the Allies. A stage will be set up at the boulevard and Stanwix Street. Six high school marching bands will participate -- one for each Steelers Super Bowl victory. They are Thomas Jefferson, Bethel Park, South Fayette, Carrick, Perry and Brashear.
The Gateway Clipper Fleet will provide shuttle service to the Monongahela River side of Point State Park for the parade.
Shuttle service will begin at 9 a.m. and will continue until the start of the parade. Return shuttles will begin immediately following the conclusion of the ceremonies and will continue for one hour.
The cost will be $5, with no charge for children 6 and younger. The fleet will donate a portion of the proceeds to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
Pittsburgh Public Schools announced today that tomorrow will be a normal school day. However, students are being encouraged to wear black and gold and will be encouraged to give a cheer at noon.
City schools and some others called a two-hour delay today because of the lateness of yesterday's game.

Big Ben on 'Letterman' tonightMonday, February 02, 2009

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will appear tonight on CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" (11:35 p.m., KDKA). It will be Roethlisberger's third visit to the "Late Show," including after his previous Super Bowl win with the Steelers.
