Count Simmons among the whiners.

The opening paragraph from his
article
Midway through the third quarter of Super Bowl XLIII, I was congratulating myself for attending a party instead of writing about the game. Pittsburgh was driving with a 10-point lead. The Cardinals had a salad fork sticking out of them ever since the 14-point swing at the end of the first half,
when James Harrison unleashed his amazing 100-yard TAINT with help from the officials (who ignored LaMarr Woodley's blatant clipping and Harrison's getting tackled just short of the goal line).
Other than that one play, this was a snoozefest. We weren't even getting enough Cuba Gooding Jr. shots.
Here it is:

I guess Simmons doesn't know a clip has to come below the waist. As for the tackle, well, I'll just leave that to everyone who actually, you know, watched the game, as Simmons early and often admits he did not. In any case, writers ought to know the meaning of the words they use. Not to mention, watch the games they are paid to cover.
Simmons would never have gotten higher than a D in my class.

A friend of mine wondered recently if tv's in Spanish-speaking countries came with an english-language option.
edit: And I'd beat Simmons like Holmes on Rodgers-Cromartie.

Woodley clearly hit Hightower in the side. Both hands were on his right shoulder pad for fuck sake. How can that be a block in the back? The penalty is called block in the back, not block in the side. Hightower took a bad angle anyway, in all likelihood Harrison would have just juked right and ran in anyway. Woodley flying in there probably slowed up Harrison a little anyway, giving Fitzgerald a little more time to catch up.

I find it hard to believe that anyone in their right mind would invite that skidmark to their party.

The Woodley block was not a BLOCK IN THE BACK (learn the game, douchebag) for several reasons. First, it was too close to say it was in the back rather than the side. Second, Hightower ran into Harrison's path, the runner changed direction, and Hightower stopped. That is not a clip, in any league. There is no doubt that Harrison was in, in spite of Fitzgerald's illegal tackle.
Lord, these people just love to create something out of nothing.

Well, I usually get a couple chuckles out of his articles. I know he's a Pats homer, but I can usually look past that. But he just sounds downright bitter in this one. He must've lost a LOT of money. Sounds like those sour grapes are still sucking his salivary glands dry. lol! Must suck to be a Pats fan right now. In a way, his bitterness makes me feel warm and fuzzy all over. God, I hope we get a chance to bitch-slap Brady in the AFCC game next year.
