And a second straight day of being in the minority, I see.
Mrs. F. and I have had a dog for 6 years, and man, I love that bastard. Best dog ever. Source of constant amusement, always ready to roll with me on errands, doesn't understand that he's now middle-aged.

I'm with ya Finny. I have 2 Jack Russells. Phoebe is 8, Fisher is almost a year. They make me crazy, but I wouldn't trade 'em. Even when Fisher destroys yet another article of clothing, he makes up for it by being so enthusiastic when I get home every day. I can't imagine walking into an empty house.
Course, the Kobester was the finest I ever had. Jack Russell that was more like a lab. I could take him anywhere - used to walk him downtown without a leash because he knew what was up. I miss that little dude every day.

Don't get me wrong, 5 years ago I was in the Finny/Leigh camp. It's just that the last few years of her life have given me a new appreciation for the freedom that not having a dog provides. In another 5 years, I'll probably swing back the other direction.

We've been through a few dogs and cats over the years. We're currently at two dogs, two cats and a slew of fish.

I think a few drowned during the tank draining mishap, no?
Don't get me started on cats. Was staying at a friend's place when I saw the cat walking across the kitchen counter. Nice. Thanks, but I think I'll pass on breakfast.

Nah, they sought higher ground during the fish tank incident.
And yeah, you can pretty much assume cats have walked all over every surface of your home. I thought we were getting down to 0 cats pretty soon. We put one down last year, he was 20+ yrs old, blind, failing kidneys, it was a mercy killing. That left us with 1 which is about 18 yrs. We figured she couldn't hang on forever. But then stuff happened, the wife and daughter are at the (recently deceased) in-laws home, one of the outdoor cats had a litter and one of those little suckers is 3-legged. They can't stand the thought that the little runt couldn't fend for himself ...
So now we have a 3 legged cat named Trip, he's only a few months old. Cute little devil though, little bastard doesn't seem to know he's supposed to have 4 legs.

I didn't think of that. The kiddo named him, I'll ask her.

The little shit can get pretty much anywhere he wants. Not as graceful on the landings though.
