Here is an idea.  You loose a player you get the teams pick that the player was drafted at of the team that signs him.  If he is an UDRFA It's 2 7th rnd picks at the end of the draft.  If he is a FA signing (Stallworth) you get nothing.

That's essentially a variant on restricted free agency which would pretty much eliminate unrestricted free agency.

Wouldn't it just be easier to lay out the parameters of the "formula" and make it public?

Ok, so I heard that there is a rule that no comp pick over 5th round can be awarded for a player with 10+ years in the league.  I dunno if it's true (can't find anything online), but it would explain this a bit.

Instead of making stupid rules about swatting at QB's ankles maybe the NFL should adapt this rule to include 1 year rentals. The fact that New England got a 3rd for the rental of Stallworth is fucking dumb.

Guess they decided not to factor in the fact that Stallworth is going to be pretty useless to everyone since he could possibly be going to prison for running over someone.

I am telling you, Goodell and Kraft are in each other's pants...figuratively if not literally.

Yeah, I figure that's literally true.
