Bill Barnwell: Well, here's what they did on first down in the second half:
Five-yard pass to Heath Miller
Willie Parker rush for no gain
Willie Parker rush for one yard
Willie Parker rush for two yards
Willie Parker rush for a two yard loss
Nine-yard pass to Willie Parker
Willie Parker rush for three yards
Willie Parker rush for three yards
Willie Parker rush for no gain
Willie Parker rush for three yards
Incomplete pass (final play of the game)
What's the pattern you see there?
Wow. Just...wow. Successful pass, four ineffective runs. Successful pass, four ineffective runs. I've heard of using the run to set up the pass, but that's like setting up the Thanksgiving table to eat a cube of Jello, then breaking it down and starting over.
Thank heavens Mendenhall was in Tomlin's doghouse.
His 4 carries per game, wow, way too much for a guy in his second year. I hate the way he keeps falling forward for a couple extra yards when he gets hit. That's just hot-dogging, in my book. Breaking off 10 and 39 yard runs, who the fuck needs it.
Etc.
