Check the source, FWIW.

Steelers Cutting Larry Foote
Posted by Mike Florio on April 28, 2009, 11:22 a.m.
A league source tells us that the Steelers will be cutting linebacker Larry Foote.

More details to come after radio spot with Paul Allen of KFAN in Minnesota.

Third paragraph.

Nice third paragraph.

Had supposed this would be his final year, but not that he would be cut.  Fairly high cap hit, but still and all a solid guy.  No trade value?  Huh?  What about Denver, for instance?  Going to the 3-4 but apparently without the personnel to do so.

WE'll see.

Makes absolutely no sense to cut Foote, even if LT will be the starter. I can see him not being resinged, but he is needed for depth this season.  Someone would trade for a starting LB on the #1 defense as well. Will be surprised if it happens.

I agree it makes no sense.  No confirmation from real media sources.

It would've made all the sense in the world...if they would've taken Maualuga @ 1.32.

I think they want to give a little more money to Max Starks.

Not as part of any long-term deal or anything, they just like paying Max.  Start, don't start.  Stick around, don't stick around.  Our purpose to to make your wallet fat, my man.

Pittsburgh is typically tight against the spending limit and can sorely use the funds provided by Foote's release. Last week the Steelers had to release tailback Gary Russell in order to have enough cap room to sign backup quarterback Charlie Batch.

Cards need help at LB?
