Ok am I the onlyone upset about this? Foote was solid and still young. I know we have Timmons, but who is behind him?

Foote was solid and was a much better run stopper IMO. Timmons is a freak on the pass rush and in coverage, but lacks in stopping the run. Is Timmons ready to an every down guy? I liked the rotation they had with these guys last year.
I guess they can't fit them all under the cap, but this just seems...wierd.

Seems like the cut will happen....

The Steelers were going to release him yesterday, then decided to wait as they pursue last-ditch efforts to trade him.
"It was my doing," Foote told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "I wanted to go. They were trying to trade me."
Fox, Frazier, and Davis are the backups now, I presume

Not liking this at all. We've gone from having a solid depth and rotation to being very thin at LB, especially inside. This is an awfully big gamble with Timmons at this point in his career, although he's stepped up much better than expected. Here's hoping that he can learn to do it against the run.
I think that Larry may be shooting himself in the...um...foot, so to speak. I understand the drive to play, but no one can deny that our pass D improved with Timmons coming in last year. He got a pretty lucrative deal for a guy that could be viewed as an overachiever, and I tend to think that he has peaked and will not be any better than he is. He'll help someone, but he's not going to suddenly become an all-pro.
I actually was hoping that he could jump in for Potsie some over the next couple of years until we found a permanent replacement for him. Farrior's eventually going to retire...isn't he?

Some reports that Indy may be interested. Hard to see us getting more than a R6 here, though, which IMO is nowhere near his value. BUT, if they are moving Timmons into the starting role, Foote's a biggish cap hit and an unhappy role player. Best interest of both, I suppose.
I was surprised we didn't take a developmental ILB late in the draft, some very good ones fell late. Frantz Joseph was UDFA, same with Antonio Appleby. Dannell Ellerbe out of UGA is still unsigned but is a big character risk. He could be a real steal if he can stay clean. Otherwise, Key Fox can back up just fine (was a R3 IIRC), and we might have one of the guys on the roster as OLB depth swing over (Woods? A. Harrison? Bailey?). We really do need a good developmental guy there sooner or later, though.

Could Bruce Davis possibly fill that role?

Will a player who is cut and then signs elsewhere result in a compensatory pick? Seems like those are only for FA losses.

Right. No pick, as their was none for Peazy.
Best hope is some miniscule trade value.
