So, what was she doing with the rabbits?  I just don't get it.  And why did she have 250 of them before?  Is this an alternative to the crazy cat lady?

Yup, Miriam Sakewitz is just plain old crazy, nuts, bananas, etc.  Thought they might have been a food source, but no.

Problems for Sakewitz started in October 2006 when Hillsboro police found and confiscated nearly 250 rabbits in her home, including about 100 dead ones in freezers and refrigerators.

"I think they would die and instead of disposing of them in a garbage can, she'd wrap them in a towel and put them in a freezer," Skinner said.

Clearly a situation that would have been made all better by the MGS grillin' team.

That summer, Sakewitz was ordered to spend three days in jail for violating her probation by keeping a rabbit in her house.

Cruel and unusual punishment, IMO.  A lady's gotta do what a lady's gotta do...to do...you know...especially when you look...like that.
