Day 7 of Chantix

Day 7 is today so that means tomorrow I'm supposed to wake up and refuse to smoke any longer.  Will keep y'all informed. So far I haven't really had any of the publicized side-effects (or unpublicized, for that matter) of the drug other than difficulty getting to sleep.  But that may have something to do with coffee in the evening, who knows? 

Wish me luck.  And Mrs. Jonzr, too.

For sure.  Only have to deal with it at work for Thur and Fri, then I'm on vacation all next week, so maybe that'll help.  Plus, I've been warning everyone in the office that I'll be smoke-free tomorrow after 20+ years ...

In addition to being stubborn, I'm motivated to stop.  With the help of the Holy Chantix I'm feeling positive about this.  I've spoken with a half dozen long time smokers who've been stopped for anywhere from 3 mths to 2+yrs via the stuff.

Planning for it to suck but knowing that it'll get better, keeping my eyes on the prize.

I tried the chantix and the previous popular pill (name escapes me) to stop smoking.  I had the most fucked up dreams on both of them, so I stopped.  I didnt smoke while on them, but for some strange reason, i killed every living being in my sleep through dreams in the most inhumane and greusome ways.  Just make sure your wife hides the cutlery at night.

I've been smoke free for 3 months now using the walmart brand patch.  works pretty good and thats with the mrs. still smoking like a chimney around me.

Oh, not to be a buzzkill, but you still get cravings when you drink.

So far I haven't had the weird dreams, but almost everyone reported that.  The wife hasn't, either.  I think the usual is to take it for 3 mths, but some of the people I spoke with went up to 6 mths.  As for the drinking, stopped that almost 18 mths ago - but I've heard horror stories about drinking it.  A local musician (was in the band Sorta, used to play for Eddie Brickel and the New Bohemians) was shot and killed after he flipped his lid b/c of Chantix and night of heavy drinking.
