A buddy just called, has club level seats for the Steelers-Skins game Saturday night, FOR FREE. His offer is great but the timing sucks.
Unfortunately, my dad-in-law passed away on Thursday and his memorial srvice is on Saturday. Sorry, father-in-law trumps football on this one. I have no desire to be the POS who went to a pre-season game!

Sorry to hear about your father-in-law. Yeah, you better not blow off the funeral, or you're a dead man.

Sorry to hear about your father-in-law.  Hopefully all is as well as can be expected.

There will be "other" preseason games to attend.

Thanks, guys, I'm still a little rattled over his passing.
Living in VA, I hope the Steelers kick some Deadskins ass, that would be very enjoyable.

Meh, preseason games aren't even really about who wins ("Yay, our third-teamers outlasted your third teamers!").  It's an eval tool for coaches and hardcore fans, but family comes first.

Now a regular season game...

I had to blow off a regular season game against the Clowns (again, club level) during Ben's rookie year because I had just come back from the Florida Keys and couldn't take more time from work. Now that sucked! Of course, it was kind of interesting being in the Keys when Hurricane Jeanne was tearing up the Florida coast just about 125 miles above us; I think that was Ben's first game as our starting QB.

Sorry to hear about your father-in-law, but preseason games are not the most exciting games to attend.  You are not missing much.

Hell, I'm still trying to figure out why I get charged the same price for preseason games that I get charged for regular season games.

Fucking ripoff.

If it was my father-in-law's memorial, I'd have to be there. I plan on doing a 15 minute roast. He wouldn't want it any other way.

No offense, but I think they had a quicker turnaround time with MJ's service.

I blame the league.

I blame the Rooney's for not signing Vick to a 30 year contract worth 1 billion dollars.  Grin

Otis, I agree but it's what my mom-in-law wants. Since dad-in-law has been cremated, my mom-in-law didn't want people (meaning us 'kids') missing work during the week, so that's why it's 1-1/2 weeks later. Hey, she was married to the man for 52 years, so whatever she wants to do is OK by us!

Pgh, he had been diagnosed with a brain tumor back in October of '08. The last 3 weeks have frankly been brutal on the family, so while we all miss him, he's in a much better place now.

I have always said, if I had to hand-pick the in-laws, I couldn't have done any better. Fantastic people! It's the sister-in-law (contol freak-in-law) that would probably flip out if we went to the game.

I should have put a smiley...was just kidding.

Cremation is my choice too. Maybe Penso could make a coozie for my urn.

Hopefully the good memories will eventually erase these last few weeks.

My hubby went with mom-in-law to help with info on the cremation. When he came back, he told me I'd be glad to know that yes, there are Steeler urns available! Good to know, isn't it? Of course, a stadium cup or two would also work...

I want my remains formed into a coin that can be flipped before a home Steelers game.
Tits on one side, ass on the other.

Gotta pass that suggestion on to the Rooneys!
