A proud moment - #52

A couple of weeks ago, we moved my son into the dorms at Furman University for preseason football camp. He cannot practice with the team because walk-ons are not allowed to practice until classes begin next week. But he is helping with video, play charts, etc., and hopefully learning by watching practice.
It's been a tough couple of weeks because he's literally not allowed to do anything with the team other than meals. He has to come early to practice and stay late to edit; then find time on his own to lift and run. He can't even be in the weight room when the team is lifting (NCAA regs).
One of the few perks that he gets for this--and it's well worth it--is that he got to don the uniform in the team/individual photos. They will send a copy of his picture to his HS coach, which is a nice way to stick it to a guy who basically screwed him over during his senior year.
The second perk was that he got to sit with the OL and sign autographs for Fan Night last night. He was on cloud nine--as was I, especially when I saw his assigned number.
The man is wearing #52 this season. I told him to make sure he lives up to the task, at least in how he works and plays.

WE used to live there and get back to G'Ville about once a month. Mrs. Brinker's parents live about 1/4 mile from Furman, towards Travelers Rest. I know we will catch at least 1 game this year. Do you plan on going to some of the games this year? Make sure to tell your son to check out Foothills Deli...great food about a mile from the campus.

He called me today and just told me that the real hitting starts Wed. for the walkons. He is scared and excited all at the same time, but mostly just wants to get out there.
Brinker, I sent you an email about Furman games, we will be going to home games and get some free tickets. Send me a message back and we'll set up the tailgate!

Shouldn't #52 simply bunk in his car?
Too soon?

You know LC, that's exactly what we want him to AVOID in college!

Wait until he gets a few more hits to the head. Plus he has a truck, so he can just sleep in the back. Warm weather down here, you know.
