Okay, so, with the penalties, the opneing drive was 16 plays. That's a long drive, but should he be coming out on play 12ish because he's gassed? I know there are still 3 weeks for him to get in shape, is that enough? Because the Titans might have three of those kind of drives in the first half, and if he needs to come out...

IMO, Hamp's play has declined slightly but perciptibly each year over the last 3-4 due to conditioning.  He should still play well for most of the regular season, but it is a concern.  Smart not to extend him.  In fact, with the Pats not extending Wilfork, I'm wondering if we couldn't spend the coin and get a younger 3-4 NT next year?

My opinion on Hampton's shape is that it is very, very round.

BV could work him into shape.

I still think Hampton has a very real chance of being the first Steeler with a 3-digit jersey number.

I think what Hampton is missing is the fact that as a player gets older...especially a large glob of goo such as Hampton...they must be in better shape come training time.

unfortunately Hampton is never going to learn until it's too late.  the later the years, the more the fat becomes a hinderance.  luckily for us he seems to be able to shed enough come season time to clog the middle but that's not going to last more than another 2 years or so.  Sad that our sport kind of feeds on the obesity epidemic here in this country.  That being said, I love me some big snacks!

Man, I really doubt he cranks out more than 2 years at a solid level of play. I hate to say it, cuz I loves me some Big Snack and all, but I think he's near the end.

You know that girl who turned into a blueberry in Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory? Casey Hampton looks about like her.
