Exactly. I think Mendenhall runs with what Tomlin might call "violence." He's got a powerful frame and he accelerates quickly and aggressively to the gap - or where it's supposed to be. He makes contact with defenders forcefully.
Give him enough carries, and he'll start to wear defenders down and pop some big runs, I think. I don't think he's the kind of back who will look any good getting 3 to 5 carries a game. He just won't.
Something about his game tells me that he plays a bit like the coaches don't trust him, so he plays a little nervously, and so the trust never builds, and he might be stuck in limbo for a while. Too bad, I think.
