The newest member of the Steeler Nation

Jackson Thomas Brinker was born Wednesday October 21st at 8:53 AM
6 lbs 1 oz 19 1/2 inches

A little surprise...born about 2 weeks early.

He is doing well.  Mom and Dad are adjusting to being parents...and getting no sleep.

My best advice...keep your newborn up during the day...otherwise they stay up all night, like the last 2 nights.

I have some pics in his Steelers gear to post if I knew how... someone explain please.

Nevertheless he enjoyed the win on Sunday and slept on dad during the entire game.  Tough not to swear at the television during the game.

Dad Brinker...

Congrats man!
He's a cutie, and glad he got here just in time to see the return of our Defense.

It's great continuing to build the Steeler Nation!

Sure, that sounds OK, but Coolidge Thomas Brinker or Salami Thomas Brinker would surely become legendary in the Brinker family.

If you can just get them to sleep all night, you're golden for the first 6-7 months. After that, your house will never be the same.

Well done. Took my 7 year old to the bar for the first time on Sunday, to watch the Steelers. Now that IL is smoke free, I figured it wouldn't be the worst thing.

You and the Mrs. best not be jumping out of your car on the freeway anymore. You've got promises to keep.

Congrats!

Congrats Brinker...and if I could give one suggestion that worked for us with the twins, it would be to get them on a schedule and stick to it. We generally had a nap in the morning, a nap in the after noon, and then to bed. They woke up once or twice for the first 6 weeks or so, but then it was golden.

You can get used to functioning while getting up at night, but the worst thing ever will be when they are sleeping all the way through, then for some unexplained reason wake up randomly one night. The next day is straight out of the circles of hell and you wonder how you did it for 6 weeks when they were born.

Congrats man...  As a new dad myself (Benjamin Bradshaw was born March 10th) I will tell you that the first couple of months are tough but it is worth it.  Then, it gets progressively easier but still tough  B)

Congrats...

Congrats to the Brinkers!  They say that the faster they gain weight, the sooner they sleep all night.  So feed that kid!!!

Of course, my boy was ten pounds when he was born, so we had no worries.  B)

BTW, I'll be ordering from Foothills Deli for our final tailgate on Nov. 21.

Congrats, man!  Like I need to tell you, but your life will never be the same.  Enjoy the "bundle of flesh" (as I like to call 'em) years because as soon as their mobile, that's when you're really screwed.   B)

Sounds like a normal day in the KC and Finny households.

You're confusing "normal" and "regular".  Kashi keeps the head on a pillow regular, but I'm afraid there's nothing can be done about the normal part.

How many message boards did he hit, before he figured out how to knack up the Mrs?

Or did he just leave some sea snakes in her bath water?

OK I have to admit I am still struggling.  Tried to attach a photo and apperntly my photos are just too big.

I was confused somewhat by the insert image link

How many message boards did he hit, before he figured out how to knack up the Mrs?

We have been trying for 4 1/2 years, luckily I got some advice from knockedherup.com.

Considering it took him 4 1/2 years, I'd say the opposite is true.

Sounds like a normal day in the KC and Finny households.

Oh man,... that's cold brother!  The real sad part is that it took me a month and a half to catch this.  I'm gonna have to stay up once in a while to read the damn board more often.

Congrats, Brinker, on the young'un.  Oh,... and that part about it getting easier... don't bank on it my friend.  My "kids" are 29 & 27, and they still cause me grief from time to time.  You'll have a window of relative peace from about age 8 to 13.  Then they get to that point where they think they already know everything there is to know.  That lasts till about the 24th birthday.  After that, it dawns on them that they were clueless.

I'll let you know in February if grandparents have an easier time.

Had my first "losing it" moment last night.  Nothing would make him happy and I needed to keep him quiet so the Mrs. could sleep...she works the night shift with him.  Finally, after 2 hours, she came out and snatched him out of my arms.  I then went into the garage and began funneling Makers Mark.  After much consultation I now realize that I should have put him in his crib, closed the door, turned on the monitor (on low), and let him work it out.  Instead I tried everything in the book to appease him. Lesson learned.

The battery operated swing was my weapon of choice as a last resort.

There were many times I wanted to pretend I was a track and field athlete throwing that ball on a sting by spinning around and launching car seat with infant in it.  My oldest had Colic (sp?) so bad it would drive both of us to that point.  If she was awake, she was SCREAMING.  It only lasted 3 months!!!!!!!!!  I never looked forward to going to work as much as I did during that time.  My MIL thought we didn't know what we were doing so she took her for the weekend.  Any one with kids knows how kid crazy grandparents are.  After about a half day she called us to tell us there was something seriously wrong with her.  FIL and MIL fondly referred to her as Devil Baby from that point forward.

She was born in mid November so it was from mid December to mid March.  No golf outings that time of year either.  She almost got a fully funded trip to the local orphanage.

It was so bad.
