You know, I generally don't like  Whitlock's articles b/c he frequently comes across as a know-it-all arse, but he's pretty much on target here.  Guess he doesn't have too many friends in the media.

What's funny is how all his of Tiger's side dishes are falling over themselves to get to the media.  "What!  He was cheating on me with other whores!?  That bastard, I'll show him!"

And was Tiger really so naive as to think these nookie girls would keep quiet?  Really?

I take it back after reading a few of the articles that so offended Whitlock.  I get why he's hating on Jenkins, that was a ridiculous article.  But the Reilly article, uh, what's the problem?  Then the Pierce articles, again, what's the problem?  In his '97 piece, the guy comes off like as a fan.  But maybe Whitlock didn't like this quote by Pierce:

Whether I agree with Whitlock's view or not, I do think he will point blank say what nobody else will. 

If someone showe up at my house and wanted to know where I was going, at 2:30 a.m., Noon, or 4:00 p.m., I'd tell them to jam it. 

I bet 95% of athletes absolutely hate the media.  Tiger has enough clout, or whatever, to essentially jam their idiot asses down their own throats, which naturally doesn't appeal to them, so now they are jammin him as much as possible becasue of it.

I like Reilly's ESPN column although I never read him with SI.  I thought that was a perfect example of the media being the media.  Reilly accusing Barnett of too little oversight due to sexual assualt accusations, when the same thing was going on at Reilly's house.  That is a perfect example of media being the media.

Either way, don't hate the playa, hate the game, I guess.

My thing with Whitlock is he comes across as holier-than-thou far too often for my taste, that's all.  The media is treating Tiger Woods pretty much like we would expect them to.  Not saying it's right, not saying it's wrong.  I'll admit, Whitlock had me when I first read the article, but then I remembered what it was I didn't like about him since the last time I read his stuff.

What?  There's hypocrisy in the media!?  You mean Finny touts kashi but then pan-fries breaded blocks of cheese in 4 sticks of butter while slamming Nyquitinis? 

Where would Whitlock have us get our news?  Guess we should wait for a virgin birth and hope the kid takes up journalism or at the least, blogging.
