playoff scenarios

It's pretty simple for the Steelers. Win out and get help, or they're out. If they get to 10-6, only JAX, DEN, and the NYJ can finish above them. JAX and the Jets will hold the tiebreaker(AFC record), while Pitt gets the nod over Den.
So assuming they do indeed finish 10-6, 2 losses by the Broncos coupled by a Jets loss gets them in. 2 losses by the Jags, also coupled by a Jets loss gets them in.
The Jets are most likely going to lose a game, if not more. The Jags are definitely gonna lose one, but need them to drop 2. The Broncos will lose one as well, but have to finish 10-6 if they Steelers are going to qualify over them.
None of it means anything if the Steelers lose another game.

No offense, but right now this post looks like an absolute waste of time.

We can save it as a reminder of what it's like to completely lose hope, to have that last bit of optimism extinguished. Like if you had a jar of fireflies and somebody tossed it to the ground and started smashing it with a sledgehammer until the glass was a fine powder and there was no remnant of glowing firefly guts, only absolute darkness.

OK, here we go. For all you still hoping for the playoffs, this is what must happen. Pittsburgh must finish 9-7 of course, which is highly doubtful at this point.
Denver goes 1-3, Jets go 2-2, Balty goes 2-2... they're in.
If the Jags go 1-3 with both the Ravens and Jets losing at least 2, they're in.
Basically if any team not named Denver or Miami reaches 9 wins they will take it. Seriously doubt that the Steelers win another game let alone win 3, but someone might get in at 9-7.
Right now both Den and Jax are losing...... Never give up, never lose hope....

Thanks buddy. I've been trying to figure it out today, as much as I was uninterested in watching football, I was still thinking about the mathematical part of it.
As Jimmy V. said - Don't give up. Don't ever give up. At least as the math holds out a possibility...
There may be a Santa Claus out there....

Jimmy would think that some Holdiay photography would not only lift MGS spirits, but also spark the struggling Steelers to a playoff appearance.

Actually, the Steelers can get in even at 8-8. But they'd need a LOT of help for that to happen.

So we'd need to beat the Ravens and they'd have to lose an additional game to either the Bears or Raiders?
You'd have to be pretty shitty to lose to either of those teams.
If Gradkowski is out for the year, that means Cutler on the road in Baltimore would be our only hope.
