From today's Post-Gazette:

Safety Troy Polamalu, who has missed the past six Steelers games with a knee injury, ran yesterday and today and has a chance to return to play Sunday in Miami.

"The door is not closed,'' said coach Mike Tomlin.

Polamalu has missed a total of 10 games with two separate injuries to his left knee.

Among other injuries listed by Tomlin today were halfback Willie Parker (shoulder), guard Chris Kemoeatu (wrist), defensive end Brett Keisel (neck) and wide receiver Hines Ward (both hamstrings).

If he ran for the first time, yesterday, in 6 weeks can he really do anything on the field?  I guess it depends on the definition of "ran".  I'm thinking he jogged 40 yards or something.  If he ran full speed and could change direction, then obviously that's different.

TP at 75% is > the rest of the DB's combined.

I'd like to see him play, but not really worth shooting him up when we're most likely doomed anyways.

I'd rather him not play. It's not worth it.
We get to the playoffs, that's one thing.
For this game, sit him, but let him kick the shit out of the secondary when they screw up.

I guess I'd like to see him play. All the shitty scenarios ending with Steelers in the playoffs start with a Pittsburgh win, and I don't think the Fins will just lie down for this one. Maybe he can replace Gay in the nickel, or something. The only thing the Steelers can do on Sunday is play the game on their schedule, and control what they can, which is winning the game.

Obviously, if he gives it a go and blows his knee out that would be bad. Very bad. My guess is that he's close, but doesn't end up playing on Sunday.

Don't nobody go gettin hopes up.

Polamalu, out for the last six games and most of a seventh with a left knee injury, began running in a straight line only Monday. He has yet to begun cutting, turning or twisting, moves needed to play in a game.

Last week, Polamalu said he probably needed a full week of practice before he could play again.
