That's not a bad deal. Big Snack is still worth 3/21 with 11 guaranteed. That's one less urgent need in the draft but one would like it if they could at least find a worthy NT project to groom (perfect world).

The P-G time line is funny:

2/23 Steelers close to putting franchise tag on Hampton
2/24 Steelers expected to use franchise tag on Hampton
2/25 Hampton agrees to Steeles contract; Reed gets franchise tag

That is good news, and a good deal on both sides.

It's a hot night. The mind races. You think about your knife; the only friend who hasn't betrayed you, the only friend who won't be dead by sun up. Sleep tight, mates, in your quilted Chambray nightshirts.

I love that this is a 3 year deal. I hated this class of NT's. Now we get 3 years to find his replacement in the draft, and he definitely has 3 years left in him. Good signing.

I think it's a great deal, but there are some NTs who I think would be worth looking at.

Cody's got too many questions about weight and conditioning, but he could change my mind if he loses some weight for the combine and lifts well.  Williams looks like a decent prospect, but for any NT I want to see 30-35 lifts, at least.  Better values may be Cam Thomas and Torrell Troup, especially if they have a year or two in our strength and conditioning.  They could also take the Kirschke role on passing downs.

Out of my mind on Saturday night...

Definitely ok with the signing. For some reason these guys tend to be able to play into their mid to late 30s despite being 800 lbs overweight. I'd still like to see possible a possible replacement drafted this year though.
