Yeah, WTF is with all these "opinions" on a message board?

Don't you people understand how this works?

Careful, Mr. Wake.  This Brinker dude is one badass, Fuamatu-Ma'afala.  He doesn't take any Okobi from anybody.  It would be a Kordellian feat to 'Zo Jackson his ass.

I don't take any Najeh from anybody

1996 Had to be the worst of all those years.  Hope this draft turns out to be better than that one.

Really?  You think so?

1996
Rnd Name College Note
1 Jamain Stephens North Carolina A&T
3 Steven Conley Arkansas
3 Jon Witman Penn State
4 Earl Holmes Florida A&M
4 Jahine Arnold Fresno State
5 Israel Raybon North Alabama
6 Orpheus Roye Florida State
6 Spence Fischer Duke
7 Carlos Emmons Arkansas State

Stephens of course was a famous dog, I don't even remember Conley, but we got productive players at 3, 4a (and b, to a lesser extent) 6a and 7 (though not all his years were spent with us, IIRC).

I'd say the following

I was thinking of it in Steeler productivity, but I guess Holmes and Witman were more productive than the 1997 bunch.

The first rounders have almost always been hits.  Hard to argue with 3 potential HOFers in a 7 year stretch (Faneca, Troy, Ben).  Only real miss since 98 was Edwards.  Wait and see on last three (four now).

But after that, generally not impressive.  Look at 2004 after Ben.  Only significant contributor is Starks, and that's largely because they haven't bothered to draft anyone to replace him since.

2006 - 2 3rds, 2 4ths, 2 5ths, and the best of the lot is Willie Colon?  Seriously?  And best by a long shot I might add.

'05 and '07 were OK.  '02 solid contributors throughout, no stars.

Still wait and see on '08-'10, but '08 not looking so good right now.

Again, these assessments aren't looking at round 1.
