Can one of you lawyer-type people explain to me what "third-degree rape" is? That was in one of the arcticles I read about this. I had no idea there were degrees of rape!

I'm guessing it's the same as statutory rape. If she was underage, then it's still rape even if all parties were willing.

Kluisi's right.  It's having sex with someone who is incapable of legally consenting.  So, since she's under the age of 17, even if she agreed to have sex with LT, he's still guilty of rape since she's under the age of consent.

There are degrees of everything in criminal law...
