Federer on verge of Rd 1 upset

His low-ranked opponent is serving for the match (5-4) in the 4th set.  It's hard to stay on top forever, but I think Rafa signaled Fed's decline two years ago.  He managed to grab another title last season, but this could really signal the end of an era, if the challenger holds on to win.

Oh, he broke the kid to pull it to 5-5.  So, he lost the first two sets but pulled out the third.  Now if he somehow pulls out the fourth after being a game away from defeat, you gotta like his chances.  I bet Alejandro Falla (?) is pissing his pants right about now.  And kicking himself for not capitalizing.  Kicking and pissing.  They frown on that at Whimpletorn.

Federer got the tie-breaker, 7-1.  I predict he makes short work of Alejandro in the 5th.  You had your chance - one game away from defeating the defending champ in the 1st round, Alejandro.

Federer took the 5th set 6-0.  Guess that's what a champeen thinks about the 65th ranked player vying for a 1st round upset.  Not so much.

Stern was happy with the 5 setter but thought it should have been more competitive to the end.  He would have preferred Federer to wait until the 5th set for a tie-breaker!
