The ticket is getting very expensive, but I would only go back to cable as a last resort.
As far as the newbs getting the ticket for free, its no different than any other service industry promotion.
AJ - what they chargin this year for the ticket?

The B-I-L and I are going in together for it. They just had a new baby so they won't be able to take many trips to the bar for games. Which, for him, is a good thing.

Sunday Ticket now available on PS3.
Not a gamer, but promised a PS3 to the young lad for his 9th birthday. Also, in the process of creating a TV room in the basement.
I'm thinkin' this might be a go. Can keep my cable bundle and get The Ticket in the TV/game room.

So you're saying the MGS super bowl party is at your house?

I sent you an e-invite for the last one, but you never responded.

Just remember to tell 'em that someone (*whistles*) referred ya. 100 beans each for you and the referer (sp?).
Also, just got my bill for this month. They're tryin' to charge me for the Ticket when they've been marketing it as a free extra for everybody else on the planet (well, not really, but...) for months. Fuckers are gonna pay
dearly
for their insolence.
Will report results.

Just made my phone call. Got $10 off ticket per month, another $10 of regular service for a year, and knocked off the $10 HD access fee for 2 years. So total savings of $420 over time. But when she quoted what my total monthly bill would be, it sounded even lower than that, so not sure exactly what she did.
Just said didn't want to pay that much, so she started offering deals. After a couple of "what else can you do"s, I said OK, but she kept on with a couple more discounts, so made out pretty good. That said, I'm a 10 year customer with auto bill pay, so they seemed to like that.
Good luck, gents.

Were you talking to a regular CSR or a "supervisor"?
That's pretty good. Tomorrow morning I have a couple of hours free, so looks like I can spend some time w DirecTV Customer service.
