Attending a Christopher Hitchens debate

Tomorrow morning.  Some local Christian Academy is having Mr. Hitchens in for a debate:  Does a Good God Exist?  Should be fun!

The time's I've seen him (PBS mostly) he's shamefully self-promoting; and I felt the same thing about his 'documentary' on Kissinger.

No doubt about it, he's for selling some books.  I don't know everything about the guy, but enjoy his debates, panel discussions and his various columns.  When he croaks I'll probably let my Vanity Fair subscription lapse.  His stance regarding the invasion of Iraq and Bush policy at the time irked me but nobody is perfect.

Haven't seen the Kissinger documentary.  Can't imagine he had much good to say.

The debate was very interesting.  I kept my daughter out of school for the morning so she could attend with me.  It was a worthwhile event, Mr. Hitchens was quite eloquent in presenting his thoughts while Dr. Dembski seemed somewhat scattered and more interested in debating the whole of Hitchens' writings on the topic and setting up various straw men rather than addressing the items at hand. 

It was as large a church as I've ever been in, very beautiful.  We got there a bit early, found a Starbucks (yes, inside the church) and had a pastry and coffee before the proceedings.

Dude, c'mon!  Finny risks getting punched in the nards by secret service just to shake Newt's hand, and you can't even get Hitch to stand near you for a pic?  Weak.

Yeah, they were whisking him away to the airport afterward, no chance for that.  We snuck out during the closing prayer.  That was a crappy iphone shot but a guy sitting next to me had a serious camera with a big old honking lense.  I gave him my email address so we'll see if anything comes of it. I have faith it will!
