SOS without context is useless.

Of course the duds in a strong division have a high SOS, especially if the out of division sched isn't great.  Panthers plain sucked, played NO and ATL (and Pitt and Balt, et al.).  You'd expect their SOS to be high.

Jets and Chiefs have highest playoff SOS in the regular season.  You really think they deserve adjustment upward?  No. 

I think Football Outsiders and Sagarin make good use of SOS because it's tied to performance analystics, not a free-standing stat.
