So, we have a cousin-in-law who works for a major athletic apparel manufacturer.  She has been able to procure Steelers tickets for us in the past.  Bro & Dad went to the Jets game on her, friends of mine in PGH to the Panthers game.
My sister has the bright idea to text her about the possibility of SB tix yesterday.  And yes, she has a line on 'em.  At face.
Calls back, gets sis's card number, tix are purchased.  4 tix. Sis, BIL, bro, me. What?

WE HAVEN'T WON YET!!!!!

Today I get the text from sis that she & hubby have bought plane tix on Southwest because friends of my bro, who work for SW, say prices will jump on Sunday.  Plus, tix are fully refundable for a year.  Text bro, he's purchasing our tix as I text.  I'm in my company's annual meeting all week, so my capacity to do anything but work is limited.  Hence I'm here at 11:38 at night.  So now we have reasonably priced tix to fly to Dallas on SB weekend.  What??

WE HAVEN'T WON YET!!!!!

I'm now officially freaking out.  Have we jinxed it all?  Please God, no.  Please don't be that vindictive.  I know I've promised things in return for victories, and I haven't always held up my end of the bargain (except for some pictures a couple of times...).
But please don't punish me like this.  Please.
Please let me have a reason to go to Dallas in 2 weeks.

I think I need to refill my Xanax prescription.....

LC - you could offset some of the balance by getting out if front of this situation.  If you ante up some new pics, you can overcome the karma!!!!

Complete fuckery. A buddy of mine decided to bring his Steelers SB CD to the bar when the 15-1 Steelers played the Pats a few years back.

A few days back he wants to buy the 2011 version and play it before the Ravens game. I reminded him of the previous dick move.

Had to go and get greedy.

You've got to divest yourself of these tickets before you crash our fate!

Best send them to me for safe keeping.

Story 'bout the Steelers gnome.  A few weeks ago, a garden gnome in Steelers attire is looking in our front door one Sunday morning as we get the newspaper delivery.  No explanation.  I figure it's our neighbors, as we do things like this back and forth.  A while back, I was on the morning dog walk when I spotted a sweet wooden parrot that had been put out with someone's trash.  It looked like a tiki bar reject.  So I grab it and stick it in their garden in the front yard.  Stuff like that.  So when I'd be getting overheated and needed to ventilate, I'd run outside, grab the gnome and do this celebration in the snow, cooling down in the process.  Steelers tie the Ratties 21 all, I go to scoop the gnome... and fuck if I don't fumble the thing and bust it all up.  Now, I think I should glue him back together just in case, but the fact is that we still won with the broken gnome anyway, so maybe the gnome is not crucial to my personal contribution to the Steelers mojo.

Best part was when Mrs. told the neighbor of the gnome's demise, she referred to my maneuver as having "Houshmandzadeh'd" it.  Effin' sweet.  Nice matriculation of the Doucheman's name into a verb.

Yep, purchased a pass last night online.  Only $55.  But get this - there's no tailgating in the parking areas!

Just tell them your not tailgating.  Break out some lawyer stuff on them.  They offered a parking space, you accepted and gave them consideration, $.  You aren't loitering or tailgating.  Just eating a samich.

Do you really have some spots left?

Got a text this morning that my hookup might have 2 tix. Still wasn't really planning on making the trip, because the last one was a mad scramble. But dude might have a hotel line too, but it ain't close to the activities. If I go, I'd probably have to drive.

I assume you wouldn't charge me anything more than $37.50.

Shit, it's blocked for me too.  Was gonna CTRL C/V the text for ya.  It was just tongue and cheek, anyway.  Madden 11 game simulation predicts a Steeler 4th quarter, come-from-behind-win of 24-20.  If memory serves, it's predicted six of the last seven SBs correctly with the lone exception being the Giants upset of the Pats.

Why the switch in thinking for final score?

Forget Punxsutawney Phil -- Madden 11, EA's pigskin prognosticator, has emerged from its burrow just in time to make its annual wintery pick.

And it's going with Pittsburgh.

According to the simulation, the Steelers storm back from an early fourth quarter deficit to narrowly beat the Green Bay Packers, 24-20, nabbing their record seventh Vince Lombardi Trophy. With five catches for 111 yards -- including the game-winning TD -- Steelers wide receiver Mike Wallace wins the MVP.

EA Sports has been using Madden to predict the Super Bowl winner for years now, and the famed football franchise is proving eerily good at it. Not only has Madden correctly picked six of the last seven winners, it's actually been quite close on the final scores in a few of them.

Super Bowl XXXVIII
Madden: Patriots 23, Panthers 20
Actual Score: Patriots 32, Panthers 29

Super Bowl XXXIX
Madden: Patriots 47, Eagles 31
Actual score: Patriots 24, Eagles 21

Super Bowl XL
Madden: Steelers 24, Seahawks 19
Actual score: Steelers 21, Seahawks 10

Super Bowl XLI
Madden: Colts 38, Bears 27
Actual score: Colts 29, Bears 17

Super Bowl XLII -- WHOOPS
Madden: Patriots 38, Giants 30
Actual score: Giants 17, Patriots 14

Super Bowl XLIII
Madden: Steelers 28, Cardinals 24
Actual score: Steelers 27, Cardinals 23

Super Bowl XLIV
Madden: Saints 35, Colts 31
Actual score: Saints 31, Colts 17

So it botched the underdog Giants victory in 2008, but check out the scores of the two recent Pittsburgh wins. Madden might not be Grays Sports Almanac, but with that kind of track record, we're not inclined to bet against it.
