Polamalu wins AP DPOY

Troy Polamalu wins the Defensive Player of the Year award for the first time in his career. Beat out Clay Matthews by two votes. Should've 'roided harder, Clay. The Matthews family legacy of getting beaten by Pittsburgh continues. James Harrison finished third.

That is awesome, even if it feels like a career achievement award rather than an overwhelming performance this year, which personally I don't think was even his best season.

He's been gimpy off and on for sure. Even so, Atlanta, Buffalo, and Baltimore (am I missing one?) he's there for late game turnovers that keep us in the game. Last year we lose those games. Instead, we're goin' to the superbowl.

I think the game you're leaving out is the Bengals game at home. Went pick six for our first TD. Woodley had the second one for a TD from their redheaded stepchild quarterback. Offense didn't get into the end zone all day.

Another play deserves mention here, the Tennessee game where he dove over the line to stuff Corky Collins' QB sneak at the goal line. I don't remember the exact particulars, but I remember it caused the Titans to use an extra timeout and they ended up running out of clock after the onside kick. A spectacular play that ended up being strategically huge.

Polamalu is a living highlight reel. If he plays a game where he doesn't do something jaw-droppingly spectacular, we feel somehow cheated.
Forgot the cape today?
The defense, the team as a whole, is measurably less impressive without him.
Well deserved.

Frankly, I was pretty surprised to see this one scroll by on the ticker. I expected that if any Steeler was going to get it, it would be Harrison. Thought it was going to be a two horse race between Deebo and Matthews.
Clearly, the baldies are being discriminated against.
