My Favorites on the list...


Zach Hurd, G, Connecticut (56)
Hurd has good size (6-6¾, 316), strength and long arms, plus the natural ability and toughness to develop into a quality backup guard in the NFL.


Terrence Toliver, WR, LSU (51)
Toliver's size (6-3½, 212), deceiving top-end speed, body control and good hands give him the potential to develop into a No. 3 or 4 receiver at the next level, though he is a bit tight in his routes.

Will Hill, S, Florida (51)
Hill has upside because of his above-average athleticism, though his instincts still need developing and character concerns probably helped cause him to go undrafted.


Weslye Saunders, TE, South Carolina (46)
Major character concerns scared teams off on draft weekend, but Saunders has the frame (6-5⅛, 270), ball skills and enough speed to become a solid NFL tight end if he reaches his full potential.

Ricky Henry, G, Nebraska (41)
Henry is a blue-collar player with excellent toughness and a mean streak, and he flashes above-average upper-body strength in the run game.


Tori Gurley, WR, South Carolina (41)
Gurley's size (6-4⅛, 216) and athleticism give him a chance to develop into a strong fourth or fifth receiver for an NFL team.

11. CB Ike Taylor(notes) – Taylor is definitely a notch below Asomugha, Cromartie and Joseph, but he’s also durable and can play just about any system. Will get paid by somebody.

Wonder if that somebody is the Steelers?  The rest of the corner backs on that list are either dogs or prima donnas.  But isn't that the case with corner backs?

98. G Trai Essex(notes) – One of the many complete mediocre offensive linemen that the Steelers have collected over the past five years. Prototype JAG (“Just A Guy”).

*85. OT Willie Colon – I’m not sure what it is about this guy that the Steelers like so much, but they do. He missed all of 2010 with a torn Achilles’ tendon.

So, Flozell is still under contract for another year, right?  Leverage.

1. CB Nnamdi Asomugha(notes) – It is truly a rare thing when a player this good and who is this good of a person hits free agency.

Just make the phone call and see if he wants to be rich, but not as rich as he could be, but get to play for the team with history's greatest storied defense and have an excellent chance at a couple rings. What the hell else are we going to do in our secondary. Ike (or even Gay) for that matter, would look a lot better with this guy, Polamalu, and Ryan Clark playing in the same secondary.

So, Flozell is still under contract for another year, right?  Leverage.

I just read somewhere his contract is $5 mill for this year and is a likely cut.  Maybe resign for less.
