Am I wrong on this???

I'm not sure if this is an NFL topic, free range topic, or politics; but perhaps it's a little of all three.

On last week's show, I put Tim Tebow in The Jerk Store for accepting a deal to write an autobiography as a 23-year old who has yet to earn a starting job in the NFL.

I am getting all kinds of flak for this by listeners.  Tebow is such a great person, he's just doing this for God's glory, etc.  I do think Tebow is a good guy, and he seems very genuine in his personal life.  But he doesn't shy away from the spotlight at all, and he seems to enjoy the attention more as time goes on.

I have no problem with his desire to share his faith, but it's a fine line between sharing faith and coming across as self-serving/self-righteous.  IMO, allowing an autobiography to be penned at age 23 comes awfully close to crossing that line.

Dunno.  Rimbaud wrote "A Season in Hell" when he was a teenager, and Joyce finished "Portrait of an Artist" in his early twenties, so perhaps Tebow is the next in line.

Nah.  Negative publicity is good publicity.  Can't make everybody happy.

I totally agree that it's self-serving...unless he's planning on donating all, most or even a decent portion of the book's proceeds to some religious organization.
