Wow and Cooke is suspended for the rest of the season and the first round of the playoffs for yesterday's hit.
Of course there is no rhyme or reason to NHL league discipline. Makes Goodell look like King fucking Solomon.
Having said that, immediately after the hit, I thought to myself "I hope Lemieux adds a team punishment to whatever the league gives." That's unnecessary now, but Cooke does deserve everything he gets.
Apparently Mario had a meeting with Cooke and told him to make some changes or he won't be on the team anymore.
I love the guy as a player, but this act has gotten really old. He probably cost them 2 points yesterday and he's not going to be an easy guy to replace come playoff time. He HAD to know he's the poster child for the rule changes and that all eyes are on him and he still blantantly cheatshots someone.
That said I can't argue with the 10 game suspension but I think the playoff suspension is a little excessive. That's almost as much time as Bertuzzi got for much worse.
