SOPA/PIPA Protest and Blackout

You may have noticed this morning that this site redirected to http://sopastrike.com/strike in an effort to raise awareness regarding SOPA/PIPA bills that various businesses are attempting to ramrod through the House and Senate.  

These bills will be bad for the future of the internet.  Why?  Go to sopastrike.com and find out.  Information is out there.

Please go to any of a number of sites and sign the online petitions or if you're feeling up to it, call your congressman.  I guess people still do that.

Freedom is safe for now ...

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada) on Friday delayed indefinitely a vote on the Protect IP Act, the proposed anti-piracy legislation that drew a widespread internet revolt Wednesday.

“In light of recent events, I have decided to postpone Tuesday’s vote on the Protect IP Act,” the senator said in a statement.

Reid urged Sen. Patrick Leahy, (D-Vermont) and the chief sponsor of of PIPA, to “continue engaging with all stakeholders to forge a balance between protecting Americans’ intellectual property, and maintaining openness and innovation on the internet.”

U.S. Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas) announced today that the House Judiciary Committee, which he heads, "will postpone consideration of the legislation until there is wider agreement on a solution." Smith added that he has taken critics' concerns "seriously."
