Offensive Coordinator search

Now that the heavy lifting is out of the way, WUG?
Somebody from the inside? Fichtner?
A familiar face? Clements?
Somebody completely new and out of left field? I got nuttin'. Maybe somebody that Tomlin had worked with in a former life?
One other major question looms though, does Bill Stewart approve of this message?

Clements seems logical to me.

One other point, lotta teams are looking (or will be) for an OC. By my count, there's 8 or 9 (?).
Makes me think that Pittsburgh will likely promote from within or go with an off-the-wall fresh face. Money's on the former.

I know he's currently an OC in Carolina, but what about Rob Chudzinski?
Or, Oakland's OC, Al Saunders?
Or, San Diego's OC, Shelmon?
What about that CFL coach in Montreal the Colts are rumored to be considering? Trestman?
OMFG, it's like Christmas morning; don't give a shit what I get so long as it's something new.

This is a tremendous opportunity for the team to improve.

Chudz did a great job with Cam Newton this year, but he'd have to get a significant offer and promotion to move, IIRC.
I like the idea of Clements, and don't know much about Fitchner. But I'd like to see Batch move into a role as QB coach.
Biggest concern is that promoting from within = more of the same.
I like Caldwell, but he let Manning run the show in Indy. I sometimes think Ben runs the show a little too much, and sometimes needs to be put in his place. Not sure Caldwell is the guy for that.

That's why I thought Todd Haley would be a good pick. He seems to have a clue how to attack a defense. Plus, he doesn't appear the type to kowtow to a player.

Don't think he'd have to get a promotion. I believe that was the way it was under the old rules. Now, I think he has the right to interview for the same position if asked, but his current team has the right to refuse the request.
I think.

This may be WAY outside the box, but with the way this team is built right now, might it be a good idea to look to the New England coaching tree and get someone there to be the OC? That person could implement their quick passing game that we have been wanting to protect Ben behind a line that is not very good vs. the pass rush. Combine that with a little more rushing and dump offs to the RBs and TEs and I think that we'd have an offense that is very hard to predict and defend. That system would allow much more emphasis to be placed on getting the Defensive side of the ball younger since I believe the OLine would be perfectly adequate for that system (even with second tier tackles and guards).
*shudder* I feel dirty just thinking about it though.

OK Chris. Now that we have practiced kissing and cuddling, we'll practice eating out...at a fancy restaurant.

Love to see us get Boise State's Chris Peterson, but have a feeling it will be Fichtner.
WE'll see. Still in shock.
