The way Omar usually does things doesn't result in lost money for the players, it just prorates them across future years.

Big Casey lost $2M salary and a $1M bonus.  I suspect that's why he was reluctant.  I also suspect the FO played a little hardball.  They want to keep Snacks for a year, but that's it, AND he's going to start the year on PUP in all likelihood.

Unless that just meant he had to show up and not necessarily do anything.  If that's the case, he may report so overweight he might burst when he gets hit.
