Not sure what you're looking at aj, but that link at SD shows Mendy's got a base of $613,000.

Dunno what to tell ya, Findude.  When I click it and go to that page, the table (Steelers 2012 Players Under Contract Salary Cap) shows Mendy having a base of $2,077,500 and a cap charge of $3,427,500.

Wait a sec, you're on a Mac, right?

Sorry, my bad - I clicked through to the 2011 cap data.  Still, didn't think RM's 2012 # was that high, seems odd for a rookie deal.  But whatever.

Yeah, here's another source that puts the numbers at $650,000 base salary and $1,366,000 SB; the annual breakdown looks more like what I had remembered it to be.  I think this is more accurate, and the savings by cutting RM would only be the base salary.  Not sure why SD's numbers are so jacked.

Oh, and the same site shows Foote's base as $3M even.  I know we just cut Farrior, but...  FFS, $3M?  I'd keep cutting if I were Colbert.  Either see if Sylvester or possibly Chris Carter can assume a starting spot, or bargain hunt ILB FAs.

I checked a site (spotrac.com) I usually use for sports contracts and they mirror the numbers you're getting.  They're usually pretty accurate.  Maybe the dude at SD was sniffin' glue that day.

Did Mendenhall restructure at one point and no one documented it?  The only possible explanation I can see for getting to those higher numbers on his rookie deal.

Also, isn't the injury an issue? Wouldn't they have to pay him out some since he ended the season injured? That was a factor for Hampton, per Bouchette.

As expected, nuthin' but class.

He'll be greatly missed by everyone except the equipment manager.  His job just got a lot easier.
